I was introduced to the Fiverr platform by a fellow marketer back in February 2011. It was still a fledgling freelancing business with the old look and much-loved platform. I didn’t really know what to sell, but I liked the layout and functionality of the platform, so I hung around for a while.
My first gig was an article gig (strangely enough). I would write a unique 250+ word about most topics (within reason) for just $5. I knew I couldn’t sustain this type of service, as after Fiverr took their 20% and PayPal fees, I was left with about $3.70 or £3.00 in my currency. Even back in 2011, this was a measly amount and the average article takes 20–30 minutes to write.
